The TravTime software system analyzes GPS data collected from probe vehicles carrying a GPS logging device. (There are numerous commercial GPS data loggers available on the market to use with TravTime. We are happy to assist TravTime customers with selecting one.) Drivers do not need to interact with the GPS logger and require no specialized training. Drivers simply follow pre-defined routes and abide by traffic flow guidelines. After the field data are collected, the second-by-second GPS data are downloaded to a PC and processed with TravTime. Routes are marked in the software instead of in the field by the drivers.

Replay GPS Data in a Mapping Environment

TravTime displays and re-enacts the GPS points using built-in maps and a GIS framework. TravTime supports the popular ESRI Shapefile GIS data format and many image formats. Managers can validate data collection runs and interactively define route and key intersection locations.

TravTime summarizes the GPS data into information by run, route, and road segment. Tables, charts, and GIS data are generated that can be printed and exported to other software packages, including Microsoft Word and Excel, ESRI ArcMap and Google Earth.

Corridor Travel Time Study - Sandy Springs, Georgia

Sandy Springs, a suburban city located outside of Atlanta, Georgia, undertook a signal timing effort to improve traffic congestion. The city used GeoStats' TravTime software to quantify delays and to measure the benefits of the signal timing improvements. Read more.

Regional CMS Travel Time Study - Chattanooga, Tennessee

The Chattanooga Hamilton County North Georgia Authority (CHCNGA) used GeoStats' TravTime software for a travel time study along predefined Congestion Management System (CMS) routes. Data and License Details

TravTime 2.0 accepts data from any GPS logging device that can output NMEA files, and from delimited plain-text files. (Numerous commercial GPS data loggers available on the market work easily with TravTime.) TravTime includes a raster-based reference map by default. Users can also add their own GIS layers and geo-referenced images. TravTime supports a wide range of raster formats, including GeoTIFF, GeoPNG, GeoBMP, GeoJPG, ECW, JPEG2000, GIF, MrSid, ERDAS, and others.

The TravTime software license includes technical support and software upgrades for the first year. In subsequent years, access to ongoing product updates and technical support is made available through an annual maintenance agreement ($500).
