GeoStats, a woman-owned business based in Atlanta, Georgia, is focused on the
application of emerging technologies, such as the Global Positioning System
(GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), in the collection, analysis,
reporting, and display of transportation data. Using these technologies, GeoStats offers
highly-specialized consulting services
to both private and public entities
that require collection and analysis of accurate spatial and temporal
transportation data.
Since its inception in 2000, GeoStats remains a leader in the use of GPS and
GIS technologies for studies of travel behavior, physical activity,
environmental/ health factors related to travel, vehicle activity, and driver /
network behavior and performance. Most recently, GeoStats has been
heavily involved in GPS and GIS applications for auditing traffic data provided
by various data vendors. Data elements that have been audited include travel
times, speeds, incidents, and routes.
Staying abreast of the latest trends in geospatial information technology,
GeoStats also continues to develop or enhance software and hardware tools that
are used for client studies or sold directly to customers. Software applications include
TravTime™, a commercial product created to assist with small and mid-scale
travel time and speed studies; the GPS Trip Identification and Analysis System
(TIAS™), an in-house software package developed for processing and analyzing
GPS travel survey and physical activity data; and RideCount™, a proprietary PDA, GPS, and web-based
system designed for transit surveys. In addition, the in-vehicle
GeoLogger™
continues to prove itself superior in the passive collection of
second-by-second GPS data.
